Jazz Trumpet
Brandon Choi is an improvising trumpet player specializing in all genres where trumpets can be found and beyond, quickly becoming a recognized name in the jazz community at large. A recent transplant to New York City, he enjoys making music and sounds with the many kindred spirits he’s found there. Brandon draws on his rich experience as an in-demand freelancer all across Upstate and Western New York and is enjoying a burgeoning career as a rising star trumpeter in the NYC music community, having collaborated with luminaries such as Miguel Zenon, Marc Cary, Ingrid Jensen, Bill Holman, and Jim McNeely. Brandon’s short tenure in the trumpet competition circuit saw wins in the International Trumpet Guild jazz improvisation competition (1st place, 2019), the World Trumpet Society jazz competition (1st place, 2020), and the Carmine Caruso jazz trumpet competition (finalist, 2021).
